Called Out of the Quiet: When He Found Me in the Chaos
I didn’t set out to start something like His Light, Her Lens. I didn’t plan to write a book, share my story, or use my camera to talk about faith. But God has a way of taking what feels broken and turning it into purpose.
When I first started doing devotions, the realizations and the convictions were heavy. It was like He flipped open the Bible Himself and spoke straight through the pages to me. Every word felt intentional ,personal, like He was saying, “I see you. I’m not done with you yet.” It was things that I had been thinking or saying in passing, my questions and worries that all of a sudden were being presented right to me and there was no more trying to deny that it wasn’t coming straight from God.
To be honest, this doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m not someone who likes to share a lot especially in front of people I don’t know. And there are still moments I feel afraid ; afraid of saying the wrong thing, or of not being enough. But I’ve learned that staying quiet when God calls you to speak can keep someone else in their silence too. What if the very words I’m holding back are the ones someone else needs to hear?
There was a time when I was barely hanging on , overwhelmed, tired, (I still am though I have 4 kids) and unsure where God was in all the noise. But that’s when He found me not when I had it all together, but right in the middle of my chaos.
He began to shift my perspective, teaching me to see life through His eyes not as a series of mistakes and missed moments, but as a story He was still writing. That’s when faith became personal. When photography became more than pictures. When motherhood became ministry.
Now, every time I pick up my camera or sit down to write, I’m reminded that God uses our stories even the messy, unfiltered ones to reflect His light. His Light, Her Lens isn’t just a name. It’s a reminder that through His light, we see clearly. Through His grace, we find purpose. And through His love, we’re never too far gone to be used for something beautiful.
“Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” — Exodus 4:12
